Morning all,
Hope this finds you well. Sorry I have not blogged for a few days, had tons of stuff to do, no excuse though, naughty me I will take my punishment headmistress.
Well, its only six weeks to the wedding, and I have cake/flowers/decorations and wedding dress to make. Have an idea of the style in my head, no pattern and about 20 yards of cream embossed silky stuff with tiny floral pattern. Absolute bargain, end of roll, couldnt believe it when they said it was less than £2.00 per metre, as the edge was dusty from the roll being stood up. In total, with the zip, tulle, and boning the whole dress will be a snippette at around £60.
Have been furiously collecting vintage curtains to recycle into table cloths and bunting for the event, and my daughter has suggested offering the complete wedding/recycled/country-themed package as a service. We have made the invitations/order of service, and the rest will also eventually be produced by us, out of 'previously cherished' goodies. Will try to use as much organic ingredients in the wedding cake, and it is to be displayed in a battered coal scuttle, as opposed to a shiny chrome stand,...far to squeaky and new!
The vicar came to chat with us the other night, all the formalities sorted. I was trying to remember a piece of music for the organist to play during the 'signing of register', and hadnt a clue, so this morning I rang a music shop and hummed it down the phone...they knew instantly, how cool?! Its 'Bach' apparently, I really am ignorant when it comes to Classical music, I was bought up on T-Rex.
We did Weight Watchers again last night, and the scales were not kind. I wanted to insist on a recallibration, but Keith dragged me to my seat! I have gained a pound, despite skimmed lettuce being added to most meals. Perhaps its the pound and a half of pure cheddar thats flowing through my veins, it curiously arrived in my basket and then in my fridge, so I had to complete its life-cycle, didnt i?
On a more healthy note, all the veg I planted is coming along nicely, I am really pleased. Previously I had only ever grown raddishes and tomatoes, but now we have peppers, carrots, cucumbers, beetroot, onions, rocket, broccoli, sprouts and much more... all I need now is a chicken or two....does anyone know of any restrictions that may be in place on keeping chickens in an average back garden on a semi rural bog standard estate? And would they eat the veg?
Well, friends I better go and put the kettle on, warm the sewing machine up, turn the radio on in my little shedette and sew, stick, paint til dusk. Might even finish the 'purple' car seat covers I have started.
Bye for now

Mushy Midnight Blog from Almondbury
Hello all,
Hope you are all well. Thanks for the lovely comments, its so nice to read them, I wish there was enough hours in the day to read and respond to everyones blogs! I have found myself allotting time to read them!
Talking about weight loss, its not easy as I am some mean cake eater. I have been what you would call chunky for most of my life, curvaceous, womanly.
Good for mixing cakes and cement, if required.
I blogged about Keith a little on CL, but here is how the story goes for those who don’t know.
I had been single for about five years, a few very part time things, but on and off and no one special. I had almost given up, happy to do my own DIY, scratch my own back and hog a double duvet to oneself, and then my friend met a nice chap from here in Almondbury.
When the inevitable wedding invitation came along, I attended with my children, and got chatting to Keith, whom I didn’t realise was someone my friend had previously talked about, ‘this real nice guy, bit big, but is losing weight, you’d love him, she said’. Not realising (til we had chatted each other up) who he was, I was stunned at his amazing weight loss, he had gone from 31 stone to about 19 stone. And being over 6 foot, he looked just gorgeous.
Well, Keith proved to be an absolute star, funny, loving, caring, all the things I honestly thought didn’t exist anymore. He’d had a life of caring for two ill parents, until they left this place for a more cloudy one, and being ‘Mr Huge Personality’ I feel like not many females had ever looked beyond his size. And here he was, wanting to date me, slimming furiously, single, coming with a massive fan club of men and women who had been his friends for years, saying ‘he’s a good one’.
Almost one year later, and I now live with Keith, and we are to be married this July. I take my inspiration from him, as he must have battled so hard to change his habits of a lifetime, and utterly turn his life around.
Sorry to bang on about him as if he was some super god, but to me he is, and I am sure you lovely lot have your ‘soul mates’ too. I would have laughed it off and been extremely sceptical if someone had told me a year ago that I would be living in Yorkshire, surrounded by rolling hills and dry stone walls, and marrying the man of my dreams. But I am, and I am loving every minute of it.
I used to do good things sometimes, nice things and then sometimes get bad things happen to me, and my mum used to say ‘what goes around comes around, and one day something really good will happen to you’.
Sounds a bit of a cliché but I think good old mum was right, as they so often are. I miss her and my family and friends who still live in Warwickshire, but phew, what a trade off.
Well, enough, enough mushy wishy washy stuff, I will have everyone reaching for the hankie, or the sick bucket…..back to reality, to shove another wash in before bed.
Night my very special friends

morning from almondbury
Morning all,
Just thought I’d show you these two beautiful porcelain rose candlesticks I picked up last week, so pretty I want to keep them!
It’s a grey and misty morning here, and when I dropped Keith off at work Castle Hill was shrouded in a white cloud, eery and
very ’Hammer house horror’… expected Peter Cushing to come creeping out of the bushes….
On a lighter note, Keith and I had both lost weight at Fat Club, Keith 5and a half pounds, and me 3lbs. Whey hey! Dot, our leader is very inspirational, and every week puts on a themed meeting, decorating backboards with relevant info, sometimes even dressing up, and ending on a story, poem or some funny ditty or food for thought. it’s a proper social event, and don’t mind going, even when the scales aren’t too kind!
Work wise, I have loads more photo’s and text to upload on the site, and two shops to stock not too far away so will be busy over the next few days.
Will get out in my cottagey shed and get on with some serious creation, and try to add a snap of the aforementioned shedette for you to imagine me in here, radio on, singing badly, fortunately this being drowned out by the sewing machine.
Have a nice day all.

Evening from Almondbury
Good evening all,
Hope this finds you well. Thank you to all who left comments, theyre so lovely to read.
Been out with daughter today, got measured for bra’s for our wedding gear….ha ha, I could have worn my size as a beanie, a whopping 40G!! Not so much lace, far too much metal and more elastane than a bungee cord. Needless to say, I passed on the hammock x 2 with straps hoping for something marginally more pretty… might try Bravisimo, I am told they’re good.
Been good on the ole diet today, skimmed grass and low fat lettuce, so might not run out of weight watchers so quickly this week. I wrote a few words last week, to describe my battle with the brie and here it is, you might titter a little…
Bless me Dotty for I have surely sinned
My belly is quite swollen and I guess its not just wind
I tried the other week and the weight loss came with ease
And a cocky little bugger me, I reached again for cheese.
I’d started to feel quite lively, spring was in my stride
But its been to shortly lived, I am back to getting wide
My bra is getting tighter, knickers under strain
The lung capacity of a gnat and knee joints giving pain
I dream at night that I am thin, I shapely little dolly
And my waking hours are spent disguising cornetto’s in my trolley
You can read this out at fat club, I wouldn’t think it rude
My friends will know its me, I’m the one being weighed in the nude
So I plead for your help one more time, help me to get slim and fit
The hoover wont cope with liposuction and I aint got a jaw wiring kit
So I’ll empty the junk laden cupboards, get rid of high calorie clutter
I know its mind over matter but with me its jam over butter
In eight weeks time I’ll be on show, its getting very near
I don’t want to wear a marquee to hide my increasing rear
So chain me to those scales Dotty and don’t let me falter
Or my dear fiance may simply leave me slurping ice cream at the alter

Afternoon All
Good afternoon from Almondbury
The wesbite is coming along nicely, curently uploading some photo's. We have had 65 hits in just two days, so I am getting excited about the possibilities.
My daughter is up from Warwickshire today, and she currently watching 'Grease' for the thousandth time! I plan a healthy tea (we are all weight watching for the 8-week away wedding) and a nice evening in the foot spa, picked up some nice lemongrass salts from the bodyshop which the assistant assures me I can use in it....here goes!
Spent last night making 100 wedding favours- we have made handmade paper cones (pink, rosey) and filled them with a mixture of flying saucers, dolly mixtures, pink shrimps, lemon banana's and sugared almonds.
Each cone was filled, tied with pink and white ribbons and a little satin rose or two added for effect...very pretty, and edible, which in my book is the perfect marriage!!
Have to get on and make the cake next weekend, give it time to mature. Laura (daughter,19) thinks I should go into wedding planning, as I am doing the whole sha-bang myself, dress, cake, flowers, tablecloths, bunting and much more. Seriously though, I love doing it all and wouldnt want it any other way.
best go and finish tinkering with the site, and put the kettle on. Anyone coming?

friday feeling
Hi everyone,
Well, its Friday evening and I can only apologise for not blogging for some time. I have been uber-busy with wedding plans, only 8 weeks to go and still sooo much to do.
On a business level I have been making some changes, as I had been in the process of having a website built by a local firm, however after six months, and much liaison it was still not ready, so I have thrown in the towel there and created my own in just a few hours, thanks to MrSite, who wholeheartedly endorse. Will spend the weekend uploading photographs and pray for hits!
Have been successful in securing some business with a small gallery in nearby Holmfirth (where Last of the Summer Wine is filmed) and as it’s a touristy, pretty place I am hoping to have many reasons to trip off there on a sunny day with a basket full of goodies, and stop off for afternoon tea….. I don’t need many excuses do I?
Must, oh must start making my wedding dress soon, the fabric is staring at me from the corner of my workshop when I go in. I have been a little naughty on the saturated fat front over the last two weeks..ie cake and more cake, oh and cornetto’s too, only a pound off at fat club…me thinks I may be using all the bridal fabric up, and not having huge lengths left over!
Back to the website… got a wicked shopping trolley to add to the gallery… Being as we all need to walk more and use the car less, I bought a bog standard trolley, and as theyre all tartan, covered it lovingly with some Cath Kidston fabric in blue and pink roses. Well, went into town with the prototype, and about six women stopped me and asked where it was from..(gave out my number) and one woman said ‘I want to order one here and now’ and I hadn’t even worked out a cost! (Will try to add snap of the said trolley on my websites ‘odds and ends’ page).
I go to sleep wondering what else I can cover with vintage or vintage style fabric…can I get tablets for this affliction?
